Ethan grew up in Los Angeles and began playing guitar at age 13. He studied classical guitar with Mesut Ozgen at U.C. Santa Cruz, and then jazz guitar at UCLA with jazz legend Kenny Burrell and guitarist Anthony Wilson, son of legendary bandleader Gerald Wilson and guitarist for Diana Krall. During his time at UCLA he led his own jazz quintet, which performed at jazz clubs throughout Los Angeles, including the Jazz Bakery in Culver City. He was also a guitarist and vocalist for the Pangea Collective, an afrobeat group that performed at the '07 and '08 UCLA Jazz/Reggae Festivals. He also has written and recorded music for television, including a song on CBS's hit TV show How I Met Your Mother, and a full soundtrack for Ronnie Kovach's Fishing Ventures on Fox Sports West. Ray is a busy guitarist in and around Los Angeles, playing gypsy jazz, rock, bluegrass, and more. When not playing with the Icy Hot Club, he also performs with jazz singer Janice Anderson, surf rock band Red Wind Temblor, Americana artist Chris Murphy, and world rock group The Nikhil Korula Band. He has toured and recorded with folk roots orchestra The Dustbowl Revival. Ray is a native of the Los Angeles area and enjoys the diversity of music that the city has to offer. www.rayclaymusic.com.
Benjamin was raised in the Midwest from a musical family with strong roots in classical music. In 1987 he moved to Los Angeles and has been a fixture in the jazz scene ever since. Some notable artists Benjamin has performed with include: Joe Pass, Anita O’Day, Annie Ross, Rosemary Clooney, Ernie Andrews, Barbara Morrison, The Jimmy Dorsey Big Band, Johnny Crawford, Ben Vereen, Red Holloway, Ray Brown, and Rob Mullins. He has performed in Japan, Thailand, Europe and across the United States in addition to numerous cds and live concerts throughout the greater LA area. He also has opened for such greats as Joe Zawinul and Tony Bennett, to name just a few. Benjamin makes his home today in Long Beach, CA where he continues to perform and teach music for all levels.
